The right of way near Monroe Avenue and Monroe parkway

Views in the town of Brighton

When the subway was built, the R&E was diverted into it
to remove the big interurban cars from Monroe Avenue.
This left riders without service between Highland Avenue
and Rowlands. A shuttle service was instituted using double
ended cars. This loop was built to allow single ended city
street cars to run to Rowlands and turn around to return.

This 1931 plat map shows the R&E loop and the subway loop.
